5 Symptoms That You May Have Registry Errors

Registry errors are most definitely not something that you want running rampant on your computer. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to prevent them. The simple process of merely improperly uninstalling a program you rarely use can lead to significant registry problems. While some errors do not deliver significant negatives, the possibility that a registry error can destroy your operating system is always a possibility. Thankfully, a decent registry cleaner can correct a number of problems. But, how do you know that your computer is riddled with errors.

When you start you computer, does it take forever to load? Sometimes, this can merely be the result of too much memory being used by the computer. However, it is also a significant sign that there is a registry error on the computer. If you are dealing with excess slow startups of your PC, the odds are possible that your computer is loaded with errors. Remember, “having patience” with a slow starting computer is not enough. You need to recognize the fact that the slow startup can provide the pretense of serious error.

Does your computer freeze at frequent intervals? Does a blue screen appear when you discover these frequent freezes? If this is the case, then you are hereby put on notice that your computer is probably home to a number of registry errors. Freezes can be quite frightening because you never know if the computer will actually “come to life” after the freeze. A freeze is not far off from an outright crash which is why one needs to take the presence of these freezes seriously.

Are the common programs you run not running at peak efficiency? This should really not be the case and if there is a definite problem with programs not performing in the manner they are supposed to then the presence of a registry error may very well be the problem. Once again, the issue is not just the slow operation or malfunctioning of the program that is the main problem. It is the spreading of the errors and the resultant problems they can cause. As such, any indication of the presence of a registry error needs to be considered a red flag.

Are you getting a number of error messages when you operate your computer? Again, errors will not appear without a reason and registry errors are the frequent cause of such a problem. Granted, there could be other problems as well but most indications would be a registry issue is the origin of the error(s).

Crashes would probably the reddest of red flags that a registry error has occurred. There are only so many crashes a computer can take prior to serious damage being inflicted on the operating system. When a crash occurs, run a register cleaner program immediately!

Causes of Windows Vista Errors and How to Fix Them

Like the previous versions of the Windows OS family, windows vista errors also occurs due to the 3 main reasons:

1. Registry damages

2. Infections from malware, virus and spywares

3. Hard disk issues

I am going to talk about each of these problems in depth in this article and the methods that are available at my/your disposal to prevent and fix each one of them.

Registry Damages

90% of the windows vista errors are from its registry. Why? Registry is the core of the operating system and has information that controls every single activity that happens on your PC. Say that when you open an application or browse some web site, or write in your favorite word processor or even copy pictures that you have taken from your digital camera, in all these cases, there is a data flow from and to the windows registry. That’s not all. The data in the registry gets modified, removed or added when you install or uninstall a new program, change system settings like wallpaper or screen saver, modify your user profile like an icon, the registry notes it all down!

So what does this has to do with errors? I’m glad that you are asked or probably nodding your head now. So how the problem does occurs? Well as registry keeps noting down all the system settings it soon gets bigger and bigger saving everything you do on your computer. As a result, the registry is more filled up with junk data consisting of obsolete, redundant, corrupt, invalid and empty registry keys. Why does this occur? Frequent uninstallation of programs, broken entry as a result of system crashes, incomplete entry due to installation aborting on power or system failure, broken down hardware and device drivers that nullify an entry, faulty programs, computer errors such as DLL, ActiveX, errors, Application issues such as Media player problems, System update problems etc…These much is enough to damage the registry.

What is the Remedy?

A healthy registry! How to get that? By ensuring that you perform periodic registry house keeping such as cleaning, repairing and backing up, you will have a healthy registry. How I do it? That’s a good question! I use a Vista compatible registry cleaner tool to keep and maintain my registry in a good and healthy condition. Like me many computer technicians and experts do this way. What a good registry cleaner does?

1. It does a thorough registry scan, and fixes all the problems.

2. Repairs windows vista errors.

3. Removes debris and malicious information from the registry.

4. Compresses it and defragments and reindexes all the information, which will get you a faster PC!

5. Backup registry periodically, after every scan, so that you can revert to it, in case of registry failure during the fix, yes it does happen in a rare case, but precaution is must!

Infections from malware, virus and spywares

Now lets jump into the next topic, the another causes of windows vista errors and how to fix them. Well these days, it’s not safe to get into the internet without enough protection from your side. There are umpteen numbers of security threats and issues coming up each and every minute, even as I type this article for you. When you click on a wrong site, your PC gets infected by virus, malwares such as spyware, Trojan horse etc… You must ensure that you have a good, antivirus and antispyware tool to combat from these ever growing threats. So I recommend you to invest in those tools and keep your PC safe from these threats! Well, that’s not all. Once you have those tools, make sure you turn on the real time protection so that any malicious program that infiltrate your PC is blocked right away. Make sure to schedule the scanning to run periodically, I recommend you do that every night, let it run and then it shuts down your PC once it done, cool eh? Finally, and not least, keep your tools updated with the latest malware file definitions, so new threats are protected! Now what, invest in those tools if you haven’t done already!

Hard disk Issues

The third cause of the windows vista errors. This is not to be neglected! This is often overlooked and there are no tools that you need to buy to ensure that your hard disk is well managed and cleaned up. Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter are the tools that we are going to talk here. You can find them by navigating to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.

Disk Cleanup cleans up your hard drive of unwanted data stored in the recycle bin, temporary files, un wanted installation programs, unwanted windows components, temporary internet explorer files, etc…Thus ensuring your hard drive has enough space to provide for your virtual memory, a vital component that affects the performance of the applications that you are running on your PC.

Disk Defragmenter picks up where Disk Cleanup left. It’s recommended that you run these tools in this order, first do a disk cleanup and then disk defragmenter. This tool gets deep into the hard drive, into the sector level. Sectors are smaller storage units that make up the entire hard disk. A file has to be present continuously in the sectors for its fast access. But usually, as a result of frequent removing of files, those are spread across through different sectors. Disk defragmenter, consolidates those sectors together, thus speeding up the file access time! As a result, less windows vista errors and a faster PC! I recommend you to schedule this tool to run at least once a week!

Understanding and Fixing Runtime Error 429

What are these strange numbers that keep appearing on your computer, you may ask one day as that all familiar beeping renders you at the frayed ends of sanity as you pound your intellect trying to figure out exactly what went wrong with the system. And don’t I know it. One of the more prominent ones is runtime error 429. While it may mean as much as any other three digit combinations appearing randomly during a Windows session, I am here to help, as well as explain.

In the Windows environment, runtime error 429 can be traced to a possible and faulty automation sequence within one or more of your Office applications. Cutting away all the jargon and technicalities, it is simply a hiccup in between one or more of the sequences of the operation, within the script itself. It’s like downloading information from an online database, turning it into an excel worksheet, which then in turn, generates a pie chart for you. That is an example of a sequence.

Now these problems occur when we use either a programming ‘program’ like C++ or Microsoft’s Visual Basics to create such a sequence. This problem could arise out of many issues. A faulty program is one of them, or an Active X handler is corrupted, this showing you the all familiar message of ‘Run-time error ‘429′: ActiveX component can’t create object’

Check the integrity of the Office application, and see whether you can launch it yourself. Check the root directory and ensure that it isn’t a network drive, as security issues and connectivity quirks might be the cause of this problem. A most common method to troubleshoot such a problem is that people will either reinstall the entire office suit, repair the program through Microsoft’s office ‘Repair’ function or simply re-register the application in the registry.

This is because there might be some confusion within the registry key, or even a missing registry value. In my experience, a corrupt registry is one of the main issues of most of the problems faced in Windows. Most of us aren’t so tech savvy that we can identify the problems with the deft hand of a programr. Words like normal.dot template or excel.xlb resource file might confuse and scare you further, but these are also identifiable points in a runtime error 429 issue.

My best advice? Get help. Download a good registry cleaner to repair all corrupted values, orphan keys and lost connections within the registry. This keeps your PC running in tip top shape. Secondly, help is always available online and there are decent one stop shop repair corners on the net that not only can quickly identify and fix your problem but identify potential and underlying harms that are inflicting your PC – some of them you might have no idea about. A computer is like a car, you have to retune it and send it for a ‘once over’ once in a while. This makes the difference between a problem ridden PC and a completely healthy one that never fails you.
