Like the previous versions of the Windows OS family, windows vista errors also occurs due to the 3 main reasons:
1. Registry damages
2. Infections from malware, virus and spywares
3. Hard disk issues
I am going to talk about each of these problems in depth in this article and the methods that are available at my/your disposal to prevent and fix each one of them.
Registry Damages
90% of the windows vista errors are from its registry. Why? Registry is the core of the operating system and has information that controls every single activity that happens on your PC. Say that when you open an application or browse some web site, or write in your favorite word processor or even copy pictures that you have taken from your digital camera, in all these cases, there is a data flow from and to the windows registry. That’s not all. The data in the registry gets modified, removed or added when you install or uninstall a new program, change system settings like wallpaper or screen saver, modify your user profile like an icon, the registry notes it all down!
So what does this has to do with errors? I’m glad that you are asked or probably nodding your head now. So how the problem does occurs? Well as registry keeps noting down all the system settings it soon gets bigger and bigger saving everything you do on your computer. As a result, the registry is more filled up with junk data consisting of obsolete, redundant, corrupt, invalid and empty registry keys. Why does this occur? Frequent uninstallation of programs, broken entry as a result of system crashes, incomplete entry due to installation aborting on power or system failure, broken down hardware and device drivers that nullify an entry, faulty programs, computer errors such as DLL, ActiveX, errors, Application issues such as Media player problems, System update problems etc…These much is enough to damage the registry.
What is the Remedy?
A healthy registry! How to get that? By ensuring that you perform periodic registry house keeping such as cleaning, repairing and backing up, you will have a healthy registry. How I do it? That’s a good question! I use a Vista compatible registry cleaner tool to keep and maintain my registry in a good and healthy condition. Like me many computer technicians and experts do this way. What a good registry cleaner does?
1. It does a thorough registry scan, and fixes all the problems.
2. Repairs windows vista errors.
3. Removes debris and malicious information from the registry.
4. Compresses it and defragments and reindexes all the information, which will get you a faster PC!
5. Backup registry periodically, after every scan, so that you can revert to it, in case of registry failure during the fix, yes it does happen in a rare case, but precaution is must!
Infections from malware, virus and spywares
Now lets jump into the next topic, the another causes of windows vista errors and how to fix them. Well these days, it’s not safe to get into the internet without enough protection from your side. There are umpteen numbers of security threats and issues coming up each and every minute, even as I type this article for you. When you click on a wrong site, your PC gets infected by virus, malwares such as spyware, Trojan horse etc… You must ensure that you have a good, antivirus and antispyware tool to combat from these ever growing threats. So I recommend you to invest in those tools and keep your PC safe from these threats! Well, that’s not all. Once you have those tools, make sure you turn on the real time protection so that any malicious program that infiltrate your PC is blocked right away. Make sure to schedule the scanning to run periodically, I recommend you do that every night, let it run and then it shuts down your PC once it done, cool eh? Finally, and not least, keep your tools updated with the latest malware file definitions, so new threats are protected! Now what, invest in those tools if you haven’t done already!
Hard disk Issues
The third cause of the windows vista errors. This is not to be neglected! This is often overlooked and there are no tools that you need to buy to ensure that your hard disk is well managed and cleaned up. Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter are the tools that we are going to talk here. You can find them by navigating to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
Disk Cleanup cleans up your hard drive of unwanted data stored in the recycle bin, temporary files, un wanted installation programs, unwanted windows components, temporary internet explorer files, etc…Thus ensuring your hard drive has enough space to provide for your virtual memory, a vital component that affects the performance of the applications that you are running on your PC.
Disk Defragmenter picks up where Disk Cleanup left. It’s recommended that you run these tools in this order, first do a disk cleanup and then disk defragmenter. This tool gets deep into the hard drive, into the sector level. Sectors are smaller storage units that make up the entire hard disk. A file has to be present continuously in the sectors for its fast access. But usually, as a result of frequent removing of files, those are spread across through different sectors. Disk defragmenter, consolidates those sectors together, thus speeding up the file access time! As a result, less windows vista errors and a faster PC! I recommend you to schedule this tool to run at least once a week!
